Travis received his BS in Physics from the University of Minnesota in 2007. After this, he worked in the Medical Device field as a Mechanical Engineer for 14 years, where he helped develop a middle ear implant, cochlear implant, surgical robotic end effectors, a Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) delivery system, among other devices. In 2017, he returned to the University of Minnesota to get his Masters in Mechanical Engineering, while working full-time, completing his MS degree in the fall 2021, while entering the PhD program. He joined the Biosensing and Biorobotics Laboratory in December 2021. For his Ph.D. in the Biosensing and Biorobotics Laboratory, he is developing a novel method for admittance control for the rodent cranial exoskeleton robot as well as a high-density neural probe insertion head stage for brain-wide electrophysiology measurements in a locomoting mouse.
